To makes the world aware that Mauritius is more than Sun, Sand and Sea. Maurisun have invited Mr. Peter Stokkebroe and Mrs. Kristina Juel Stokkebroe in an effort in establishes cultural ties with the world.

The couple are arriving in the month of June after competing in Blackpool at the worlds largest international dance competition.

During their visit, they will be guest-performers at "Timabo" a popular local children's dance & song competition (Televised). During their stay they will enjoy visiting cultural places around the island and thus have an exchange with Mauritian artist and performers

Peter and Kristina are amongst the world best Latin Ballroom dances and are at the moment ranking 4 th . Before specialising Latin dancing they were World Champions in All 10 Ballroom Dances (5 Latin and 5 Standard).

Their latest resoles:

  • 25 of May - number 3 in Blackpool International
  • 17 of April - number 1 in All England Latin Championships
  • 5 of April - number 1 in Malaysian Millennium
  • 3 of April - number 1 in The Singapore Millennium
  • 12 March - number 1 in Rank list competition in Latin/ Denmark
  • 27 February - number 1 in IDSF International Open in Latin/ Tralee , Ireland
  • 20 February - number 1 in IDSF International Open in Latin/ Copenhagen , Denmark
  • 20 January - number 2 in UK Open

Travelling around the world, they teach all of the 10 dances in repertoire. During show dancing and competitions however, they concentrate on the Latin dances.

Peter and Kristina hopes not only aims to awaken and interest in Mauritius for Ballroom dancing, but also hopes to return to Denmark with many impressions of Mauritian culture and dances to share. .

The couple will be visiting the Art Academy in Mauritius. Which in turn will provide a group of dances to visit Denmark September; There the group will perform as guest at the annual Aarhus Gala international dance competition, where Peter and Kristina will be participants.

Maurisun hope to invite Peter and Kristina back later this year as a part of Aarhus Sports-dancers Association which encompasses a total of 3 to 4 couples.

The aim of the following project is on one side the protection and appreciation of the islands natural resources. On the other side, it is to foster the social reintegration of so-called dropouts of society. The project encompasses various enterprises which are linked together to form an expandable network. The Lemon Hill Project, which has started out on an experimental basis, will be officially inaugurated in late 2005. In the meantime, its products may be obtained at the Chamarel 7 Colours Shop or heartsong@intnet.mu.

The Lemon Hill Shop

Offering locally made articles, such as herbal teas, sugar products, sea salt in various forms, natural foods, handcrafted souvenirs, textiles, and recycled articles, its products are cultivated and processed fore mostly by Mauritians who are eligible for social aid, are currently in re-socializing programmes, come with a family history of neglect or are juvenile mothers.

The Lemon Hill Company

The Lemon Hill Company is situated on a farm on one of the hills surrounding Chamarel. Its agricultural products are being sold on markets, in hotels and in shops. The company is at present expanding into the tourist sector with hand made health care products and souvenirs. These products are designed and produced without interference of the natural environment and some of them are enriched with endemic flower essences. The Lemon Hill Company aims to become the main producer for the Lemon Hill Shops.

Maribon Confiture

>Together, women, single mothers, elderly people and social needy grow and harvest fruit and vegetables as well as producing pickles and jams. These are then sold by the Lemon Hill Company. Women may therefore work at home and be able to attend to their children or share work according to capacity. In this way, the traditional lifestyle in small villages may be preserved.
